February 27 2025 – Qt-DAB-6.9.1 Experimental

A few days ago Jan Van Katwijk launched Qt-DAB-6.9.1 introducing an Electronic Program Guide (epg).
This is still experimental in its development! Be beware there aren’t many muxes deploying epg.
At my location only 9A WDR Regional (10FA) is using it.
The experimental Qt-DAB-6.9.1 can be downloaded from on Jan’s Github releases page.
Jan Van Katwijk appreciates your comments and feedback on his Qt-DAB Github issues page.

How to use the epg, if there are muxes using it in your area?
After downloading Qt-DAB-6.9.1 you will notice it’s installed in another folder than your previous version of Qt. Typically it is C:\Program Files (x86)\qt-dab32-qt6-6.9V3.1.
Your firewall will probably need permission to run Qt-DAB-6.9.1 correctly. Don’t forget to upload the database with the new loader.

How does it work?

Qt-DAB-6.9.1 with epg
Qt-DAB-6.9.1 with epg
  1. Make sure the controls widget is running.
  2. Are ‘epg automatic’ and ‘epg automatic’ on?
  3. This EPG icon will appear in the main widget if there’s any epg going on.
  4. Open the Technical Details widget.
  5. Click on the timeTable button when it’s no longer gray, which can take a while.

Now an epg widget will pop up.

This new option generates quite a few files which can easily accessed with the button on the main Widget (C:\Users\***\Qt-DAB-files)

January 11 2025 – QIRX 4.3.1 released

Today Clem Schmidt released QIRX 4.3.1.
What’s new?
° CIR screen and spectrum display improved.
° Colour scheme improved: better alert colours for people with Daltonism (like me).
° Configurable UDP ports.
° QIRX kernel updated for use with QIRX Remote.

More details about this new 4.3.1 can be found on the QIRX history page.
Download the excellent QIRX 4.3.1 here.
MIND YOU: the download procedure has been changed due to constant download abuse.

ALSO NEW: experimental QIRX Remote 0.0.9. allowing the user to connect QIRX to a smartphone.
I haven’t been able to test this yet. More info here.

QIRX 4.1.3 needs .netV8 and this is NOT included in the download. More info here.

February 2 2025 – Qt-DAB-6.9

Yesterday Jan Van Katwijk released Qt-DAB-6.9.
It can be downloaded from on Jan’s Github releases page.
Jan Van Katwijk appreciates your comments and feedback on his Qt-DAB Github issues page.

What’s new?
° Details deep under the bonnet updated.
° Transition to from Qt5 to Qt6 is now finished.
° New implementation of a Viterbi decoder made default in constructing an executable.
The implementation is parameterized on the CPU support for either none, SSE4 or AVX2 instructions.
The software will dynamically select the support value.
° Clicking on the main widget, the configuration and control or the spectrum-scope widget will generate a .png picture of the widget.
It’s stored in the Qt folder: C:\Users\***\Qt-DAB-files.
